Which universities use the TMUA, ESAT and TARA for 2027 entry?

Seven: Cambridge, Durham, Imperial College London, LSE, Oxford, UCL and Warwick. The TMUA is used by all seven, the ESAT by Cambridge, Imperial, Oxford and UCL, and the TARA by Oxford and UCL.

Do I need the TMUA or the ESAT?

It depends on the course. Broadly, mathematics, computer science and economics courses ask for the TMUA, and engineering, physics and other science courses ask for the ESAT. Search for your course in the table, then confirm on the university’s own course page.

Which ESAT modules do I need for engineering?

For Cambridge Engineering, the Oxford engineering courses and most Imperial engineering courses, the modules are Mathematics 1, Mathematics 2 and Physics. Imperial Chemical Engineering asks for Mathematics 1, Mathematics 2 and Chemistry, and Imperial Design Engineering for Mathematics 1 and Mathematics 2 only.

Is the admissions test compulsory or only recommended?

For most listed courses it is compulsory. It is recommended rather than compulsory for the Durham mathematics courses, for LSE courses other than BSc Economics and BSc Econometrics and Mathematical Economics, and for a second list of Warwick courses.

Can I change my ESAT modules after booking?

No. UAT-UK states that module selection cannot be changed or added after booking; candidates are asked to cancel the test and re-book, subject to test-centre availability.
